In October, The Journal Record released their Power 25 issue. Bama Companies CEO Paula Marshall was ranked as Oklahoma’s number one CEO within the manufacturing industry. The article highlighted Marshall’s more than three decades of leadership at Tulsa-based Bama Companies, Inc., which includes four facilities in Tulsa, one in Poland, three in China and two in the U.K. “I am humbled and proud of my family, and my team members who help me every step of the way,” Marshall said.
Bama Companies has called Tulsa home since Marshall’s grandmother, Alabama “Bama” Marshall and her husband moved the company here from Dallas, Tx in 1937. What began as a humble pie-making operation has grown into a global business that supplies some of the world’s largest quick serve restaurants and retailers. Despite the growth of the company, many local Tulsans still reminisce fondly of the Bama Pecan Pies. A dessert that the company made up until 2001.
While many of Bama’s products are shipped around the world, a majority of its charitable giving stays right here in Tulsa, OK. Some charities Bama is proud to contribute to include Food On The Move, Ronald McDonald House, First Tee, YWCA, Tulsa Black Wall Street, American Cancer Society, The Outsiders House Museum, Iron Gate, American Heart Association, Family and Children Services and many more. “Our mission is People Helping People Be Successful,” Marshall said, “and that not only includes our team members, but also the communities in which our team members live and work.”
